The Three-Day Fire Command Challenge
Command realistic incidents, review your performance, and return the next day ready to apply what you learned.
See the Three-Day PlanHow the challenge works
Run three simulations the way you would normally command them. Pay attention to what you recognize, what you communicate, and where you hesitate.
Run three more incidents and deliberately apply what you recognized on Day One. Focus on clarity, priorities, assignments, and follow-up.
Complete three final simulations and compare your comfort, recognition, communication, and decision-making to the first day.
What the challenge reveals
“What surprised me most was how much more comfortable I felt by the third day. The repetition made a difference. I was giving clearer assignments, recognizing conditions faster, and feeling more confident in my decisions. Nine simulations in three days gave me command practice I simply do not get every day.”
“After completing the Three-Day Challenge, I realized there were decisions I thought I was making quickly that I was actually hesitating on. The simulations forced me to think, communicate, and act under pressure. I came away with a much clearer picture of where I need to improve.”
Your individual challenge results are yours to review. The environment is designed to help you learn honestly without the pressure of performing in front of an audience.
Nine simulations give you enough repetitions to recognize patterns, test adjustments, and feel the difference deliberate practice can make.
New and experienced officers
“This was very challenging. I learned a lot about what this process is. It will be good for new officers and continuing education for current officers to keep knocking the rust off.”
Run the incidents. Make the decisions. Review your performance. Then decide what ComTac can do for your development.
